Diane Jane Cook (née Lauchner), 77, of Maurertown, VA, passed away on March 14, 2024. She was born on October 23, 1946, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Melvin and Dorothy (née Engler) Lauchner.
Diane is survived by her beloved husband Barry W. Cook, her sons Eric W. Cook (Wendy A. Brill) and Alan J. Cook (Christine) of Edgewater, MD, her grandchildren Jameson R. Cook and Eleanor A. Cook, and her sister Joyce E. (née Lauchner) Cloud (Joseph) of Newark, DE.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her younger sister, Dorothy C. (née Lauchner) Bradley.
Diane moved to Wilmington, DE during childhood and would later meet Barry, at his father’s restaurant. They built their life together in Newark, DE where they raised their family. Diane enjoyed volunteering her time at White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church.
Later in life Diane and Barry moved to Maurertown, VA and quickly became a part of the greater Woodstock community. Diane could be found volunteering at the Woodstock Library, attending Woodstock Presbyterian Church, working on a cross stitch pattern, or eating lunch at the Woodstock Cafe. Her favorite activity was sitting on her porch with a glass of wine, enjoying the view of the Shenandoah Valley with Barry.
A graveside service will be held in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock, VA on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. to honor and remember Diane.
