↑DEWEY S. HEILIG Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, April 5, 2000 Dewey Seago Heilig, 88, of Dogwood Drive, died Monday, April 3, 2000. She was the daughter of Dalla Hartsell Seago and John Marion Seago. Mrs. Heilig was employed as a telephone operator at Portsmouth Naval Hospital and Marford Marine Base until January 1977.
She was a member of Churchland Baptist Church and its Ester Class; the founder and first president of the Happy Acres Garden Club of Deep Creek; charter member of the Siesta Gardens Civic League; member of the Deep Creek Woman's Club; and a graduate of Oakboro High School in Oakboro, N.C., and Richmond Business College.
Mrs. Heilig was the widow of William White Heilig Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Dawn Shereda and her husband, David Thomas Shereda, of Portsmouth, and Hope Cleve and her husband, Wallace, of Topsail Island, N.C.; a son, William W. Heilig Jr. and his wife, Sherry, of Corpus Christi, Texas; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Rubye Long and Helen Fleshood .
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Churchland Baptist Church by Dr. Donald Dunlap and Dr. R. Clint Hopkins with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at their home. Loving Funeral Home Churchland is handling arrangements. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Churchland Baptist Church or to the Union Mission. Caption: Photo
