Kentucky death record:Place-FAYETTE Residence-FAYETTE Volume-001 Cert-00411 Deathvol-64 Pat Boyd, 279 Vine Street, San Carlos, California, 94070 Subject: RE: Belle Warner, daughter of Jacob C. Warner of Bath County, Kentucky Date:Mon, 19 Oct 1998 12:47:45 -0700 From:Pat Boyd <Pat.Boyd@@crossworlds.com> To: 'Darrell Warner" <dw@@qni.com> Hi Darrell, Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Went on vacation, was in training, and have just been busy. Anyway, I was the one who sent you the question on Belle Warner. I thought that perhaps I could resolve the question by sending off for the death certificate of a Frank Rayburn in the KY vital statistics database, who I guessed was the son of Sterling Price Rayburn and Belle. This son is listed with Price Rayborn and Belle in 1900. However, the death certificate was inconclusive, as they often are. It showed Frank as the son of Sterling Rayburn and Dessie Stull. Now what happens in the census info is that Frank is listed with Price and Belle in 1900, but listed with James and Dessie Stull in 1910 as a stepson. He also appears to have a sister Martha who would have been born in 1902, and Martha is also living with James and Dessie Stull in 1910. These Stull's are over in Fayette County. So I think the death certificate is the right Frank Rayburn, with a strange entry for his mother. So, did Sterling and Belle die so the kids get passed off to the Stull's? Interesting side note to the question of why the Stull's and who are they? Someone sent me an e-mail asking if I knew about an early Jane Rayburn who marries a Stull in Montgomery County. I didn't but maybe the Stull's and Rayburn's are related, and second or third cousins take in the kids. If Belle didn't die but remarried, did she abandon her kids? Maybe she takes them back in later censuses. I need to look for these people in 1920. So many interesting questions, so little time :-) Pat
Darrell, I got the death certificate for Dessie Warner Stull. It shows her father to be Jacob C. Warner and her mother to be Elizabeth Schutz. Her birth date is said to be June 25, 1883 in Bath County KY. She dies Jan 1 1964 a widow. Belle must have been a nickname, as you thought. However, this doesn't answer the question of who Mrs. Belle Staton is, in your e-mail below. The last name on the death certificate is Stull. Seems like she is the daughter of Jacob Warner who marries Sterling Price Rayburn. Cheers, pat
Darrell, I'll send you a copy of Dessie's death certificate this weekend. I have some info on Price and their marriage that I'll include, although I don't know when Price dies. I believe there is a death certificate for James Stull, but I haven't got that one yet, so I don't have info on James right now. I've noticed that there are lots of Stull's in Bath county around Kendall Springs where the Rayburn's lived, and James might be connected to them somehow. Price's name is Sterling Price Rayburn. I've been curious about that name, and recently I was surfing the cable channels, and I surfed into the History channel and heard a bit on a Confederate general named Sterling Price. Price's father William spent 4 years in the confederacy, and I think he named his son after this general. Funny way to find out genealogical information :-) Cheers, pat

They had a daughter (my Gr Grandmother) who is listed as Dessie Belle Warner also known as Bessie and a bible note said the name Matilda could be on her birth certificate. She was born on 6/25/1881 or 1883 depending on which bible I read. I'm pretty green at this search and am looking for someone to point me in the right direction. Bible note says they were from Bath County, KY and Dessie Warner married Sterling Rayburn on 6/25/1897 and after his death she married James Stull born 10/31/1872. Thanks for your help. Jo

You hit the jack pot!!!!! I have been researching this line of Warner's for many years and have much information. I will list some at the bottom of this. I have our family tree and much more more posted at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~warner/surnames.htm At that site you will find a copy of our gggg-grandfather Jacob Warner who died in 1860 inventory of his estate, sale bill of his estate and a copy of his land and slave division to his children. There are pictures of Warner Graveyard and a picture of Jacob Clay Warner's gravestone and a lot more. I also keep all my notes and sources posted there. I also have a copy of Dessie's death certificate posted at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~warner/dessie.jpg Dessie was the youngest of 13 children. I descend from her brother Andrew who is my g-grandfather. Jacob C. would be our gg-grandfather. I am always so happy to meet a new cousin. Do you live in Kentucky? Now I would like ask a favor. Can you bring your side of the tree up to date so I can get your branch added to the tree. I would also like to have photo copies of the infomation in the bible's that you have to add into our family history file along with anything else you may have and would wish to share. My address is Darrell Warner 208 Almond Street Weston, Missouri 64079 With your bible records it sounds like you cleared up what the Jacob's middle initial C. stood for. It was thought that it was Clayton after his grandmothers maiden name. It appears it must be Clay according to what you have. This is really neat and very exciting to me. Please write back, Darrell
Original Message ----- From: Joanne Soehner To: Darrell Warner Sent: Sunday, June 24, 2001 10:06 PM Subject: Warner Research Darrell, It will take me a few days to get it all together but I have Dessie's obit here in front of me and I probably have her daughter's (my grandmother). Dessie Stull is buried in plot 2-412A in Hillcrest Memorial Park Lexington. She died in a nursing home but had lived at 660 Elm Tree Lane, Lexington, Ky., with her daughter, my Grandmother, Margaret Eleanor Rayburn Bailey also listed Martha Ellen. Margaret was born 9/19/1901 and died 11/29/1976 in Lexington of heart failure. Margaret was married to Wm Robt Rowe 3/28/1916 in Lexington then divorced... don't know the year. They had two children, my mother Margaret Warner Rowe and Leighton Browne Rowe. Leighton changed his last name to Bailey. After the divorce Margaret Eleanor Rowe (Rayburn) married Arnold Alton Bailey in Newport Ky on 9/30/1931. My mother Margaret Warner Rowe was born 6/25/1919 died 7/09/1999 in Dayton, OH. Was married to John C Burnette of Lex. on 5/31/1940 in Danville, KY. I am Joanne Geary Burnette born in St. Joseph's hospital Lex. on 10/15/1941. Mom divorced my father and married William Kay Wagner of Lexington and had seven more children. Leighton Browne Rowe/Bailey was born 2/05/1921 and is deceased. Also I have Dessie's and her daughter Margaret Bailey's bibles. Dessie's is missing a page I'm sure and it doesn't always compare to the other. I also have copy of a funeral home? schedule for John Warner 1874-1950 w/services at the Warner Graveyard at 2:00 Wed 4/26/1950. My family moved to Dayton OH when I was five, I am currently living south of Dayton in the Waynesville area. Original Message ----- From: Darrell Warner To: Joanne Soehner Sent: Monday, June 25, 2001 7:33 AM Subject: Re: Warner Research Hi Jo, Thanks for responding so quickly. Yes I would love to have the information on your children. Try to be as complete as possible to includes all dates , places of birth to include cities, counties and states. If possible the same information on marraige and death dates also. It doesn't seem inportant now but 300 years from now it will be to someone doing family tree research as we are. Eventually I will submit our family tree to the Kentucky State Historical Society and the Bath County Library, Genealogy Section so there will be a permanet record on file. All my notes and research will eventually end up at the Bath County Library. I do not post any dates of the living on the internet, but I do keep them on file in the family tree. Right now I have a binder that is about 6 inches thick with copies of all the information I have. Do you have any old photo's of Dessie or her father? I have a copy of her brother's Andrew posted at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~warner/andywarn.tif He died on his birthday at age 96 in 1956. If you have any photo's of Dessie I would love to get a copy and I am willing to pay for it. I think any information is important no matter how trivial or small it is. Thanks again, Darrell
