BIOGRAPHY: A Short History of the Slocums, Slocumbs and Slocombs of America Genealogical and Biographical By Charles Elihu Slocum, M.D., Ph.D. Syracuse, N. Y.: Published by the Author 1882 Page 80 Desire Slocum (Giles 4, Ebenezer 3, Giles 2, Anthony 1,) was born in Warwick Township, Rhode Island, 14 January, 1720. She was married the 15th day of Fourth month, 1738, to James Greene, son of William and Sarah (Medbury) Greene, and grand-son of John Greene one of the original purchasers of Warwick from Miantonomoh, a Narrangansett Indian Chief. This John was also the progenitor of Colonel Chritopher and General Nathaniel Greene, of the Revolutionary War. James Greene died 30 May 1792, the 79th year of his age, and was buried in the Greene Cemetery, Warwick. Mrs. Greene died in Warwick sometime after her husband. (They had 6 children, 2 boys, 4 girls.) References
