    Denyse Teunissen was baptised in New Amsterdam on April 16, 1654. He was the eighth and last child of Teunis Nyssen and Femmetje Jans. Teunis Nyssen emigrated from Bunnick, Province of Utrecht, Holland, about 1638. He settled at New Amsterdam and there married Femmetje Jans, widow of Hendrick the Boor and daughter of Jan Seales of New Amsterdam. (Reminiscences of New Utricht, p. 124)

    Denyse Teunissen died prior to 1707. He signed his name "Denys Tuenessen." Children of Denyse and Helena (Corteljou) Teunissen, all of whom took "Denyse" as their surnames:
