Dennis remained a bachelor all of his life. He lived at home with his mother, Trixie, until her death on February 10th, 1978. Dennis died three months later in Vancouver General Hospital where he was receiving treatment for cancer. Dennis was an alcoholic and a very heavy smoker from a very early age.
