Delbert Lowell Neese passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 25, 2013 at the age of 81 years, 7 months at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

He was born January 28, 1932 in Collins, Iowa. He attended Collins schools. Delbert was raised on the family farm south of Collins.

He was married to Doris Smothers for 33 years. To this union they had two children, Ann and Mike. Delbert and Doris lived in Des Moines when first married and later moved to Iowa City where he owned a garbage removal business. They moved back to Des Moines where Delbert purchased an upholstery business. Delbert did upholstery until his retirement. In retirement he worked at ACE Hardware until 2009. His living family includes his sister Beverly (Leonard) Peek of Indianola; brother, Clayton (Sue) Neese of Miami, FL;. daughter Ann Burgess of Des Moines; daughter-in-law, Linda Neese of Des Moines; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; stepchildren, Dave (Patty) Combs of Norwalk and Cindy (Tim) Adams of California and several nieces and nephews. Delbert was preceded in death by his ex-wives, Doris Sherer and Pat Combs; son Mike Neese; sister-in-law Lila Neese; parents Robert and Ila Faye Neese and brother John died as an infant; and Delberts special friend Carol Burk who he thought the world of.

Delbert will be laid to rest along side of his parents and baby brother in the Evergreen Cemetery, Collins, Iowa at 12:30 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2013. Visitation will be held fro 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. Online condolences to www.petersonfuneralservice.com.
