• Dean Hubbs, 74, son of Alvin Lacy and Clara Mae Mayfield Hubbs, was born

June 14, 1932, at Oscar. He died May 2, 2007, at Salem.

• He graduated from Houston High School in 1950, where he excelled in track

and football.

• He joined the Army in 1950, serving in Germany during the Korean War.

• He was introduced to Cledith Holland in 1955 at the Cabool Roller Rink by

his friend and her cousin, Dean Cole. They were married June 24, 1956, and had two daughters.

• As a young man, Mr. Hubbs worked for Smith-Ferguson. His career included

working as comptroller for the City of Waynesville and a lineman for Intercounty Electric Cooperative. He retired as chief electrical estimator for the engineering department at Fort Leonard Wood.

• He was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he led the singing

and played the piano.

• He loved hunting, fishing, playing the guitar and talking about his

favorite topic, the Civil War. He and his wife had lively games of domino with Barney and Velma Cadle.

• Surviving are his wife; daughters, Teresa Lynne Dunnigan of Rolla and

Deanna Rosemary Parrett of Salem; one brother, Wayne Hubbs of Houston; sisters, Irene Willson of Yukon, Dorothy McCallister of Springfield and Kay Zook of Fulton; four grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren and long-time friend, Larry Cooper.

• Services were May 6 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve

Floyd officiating. Burial with full military honors was in the Mount Olive Cemetery near Montauk.
