In his will, dated 26 Aug 1778 (see image 1987), David says he is of Monongohale [Monongalia] County. The earliest administration document (see image 1983) also refers to Monongalia County. A later administration document (see image 1986) refers to "David Wright late of Washington County Deceased". Monongalia County was formed in 1776, but appears to have been short-lived before "[a]ll or parts of 21 other counties, including three in Pennsylvania, were carved from it" (from a historic marker).

The will mentions David's wife, but not by name, and 3 children: "Samuel My Eldest & Sarah the Second and David the younger".

A bond regarding taking the inventory of the estate of "David Wright decd" is dated 16 Sep 1778 (see image 1983).

  2. His youngest child (of 3) was likely born by about 1775, as he was given land in David's mother's 1796 will.
