He was a son of Joseph and Catherine Wilson.
He married Rebecca P. Beall, daughter of Townsend H. and Catherine (Parsons) Beall, on Dec. 3, 1846 in Gilmer County.
David Wilson served in the 10th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry (Union) during the Civil War. According to Compendium of the War of the Rebellion, by Frederick Dye (via wvcivilwar.com), this regiment was recruited by T. M. Harris, practicing physician at Glenville.
He is listed (as David C.) as one of the veterans buried at Pisgah Methodist in a 1938 article about a Brannon-Beall reunion held at the church: "David C. Wilson, son of Joseph and Catherine Wilson, pioneer settlers, and the grandfather of Blaine Wilson."
