Facts and Events
David is shown in the 1850 Census in New Hanover Co., N.C. along with his wife Mary and 10 Children. Also in his household are listed Enoch Wells age 28, and Elizabeth Newton, Mary's mother. Enoch is probably David's brother. David was the pastor of the Wells Chapel Baptist Church in Duplin Co., NC up until his death near the end of the Revolutionary War. The Wells Chapel was formally known as the Bull Tail Chapel. David's wife's Great uncle, Samuel Layfayette Newton, was the founding pastor at the church.
