  2. ↑ No such death record is found in Grafton VRs. The last child listed in Source:Elliott, Almer Judson. Berkshire, Vermont, Chaffees and Their Descendants, 1801-1911, p. 133, is shown with a birth of 1784, which doesn't require the father still be alive, but makes is more likely than not. The index to Worcester probate shows administration of David's estate in 1792, and guardian files for sons Joshua, Lovel, and Silas in 1793, suggesting his death was probably in 1792.
