  3. His Civil War record states his nativity was Jefferson Co., OH.
  4. David and brothers Alexander & Levi each served in Indiana Regiments during the Civil War. David & Alexander were captured by Confederate forces near Kingston, Georgia on 24 May 1864. They were taken to Andersonville prison & both died there.
  5. He served in the 65th Regiment of Indiana Volunteers, Company F. That regiment was dismounted & then assigned to the Second Brigade, Third Division, Twenty-third Army Corps & then joined Sherman's army on 30 April 1864. They were involved in the battle of Resacca & other skirmishes which lead to the capture of Atlanta. During those campaigns John was captured near Kingston, Georgia & held at Andersonville (Georgia) Prison where he died on 26 August 1864.
