- 1725 - fled France to avoid Hugenot persecution and settled in London, England
- 17 Feb 1735 - brothers David and Francis Mongin received a land grant from King George II and the governor of the Province of South Carolina for 650 acres in Purrysburg township, Granville county, South Carolina
- 1726 - married Persille Dair and had 6 children, but only 2 survived
- Aug 1747 - following the death of David's wife Persille, brothers David and Francis, along with David's two remaining children, departed Liverpool to sail to the new world
- 10 Nov 1747 - family arrives in New Jersey and settle in the Princeton area for several weeks
- 1747 - married Elizabeth Edwards, daughter of Jonathan Edwards, President of Princeton
- moved to SC and named his land grant Walnut Grove
- had 4 known children with Elizabeth before she died in 1759
- married the widow Burgoyne of Charleston, SC ; no known issue
