David L. Mercer, 88 - RECAP - age 88 of Coleman, Texas passed away Thursday, September 28, 2006 at 12:35 a.m. at Coleman County Medical Center in Coleman. Interment will follow at Coleman City Cemetery. David was born on January 26, 1918 in Talpa, Texas to the late Hayden Anderson and Bonnie Beatrice Huey Mercer. He was raised in Talpa graduating from Talpa High School in 1935. David was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army 8th Air Core, 116th bomb wing. On June 5, 1954 David married Billie Maurine Stepp in Coleman and they have celebrated fifty-two years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Billie Mercer of Coleman, Texas; three nephews, Tim and wife Lenora Mercer of Vancourt, Texas; Mac and Marion Mercer of Port St Lucie, Florida; Ray and wife Belliene Mercer of College Station, Texas; one niece, Dixie Mercer of Nacogdoches; several great and great great nieces and nephews.
