    David S. Kemerer was educated in the public schools of Export, Delmont and Murrysville. At the age of eighteen years he began his active career by teaching, his first school, which he tanght one term, being located at Cambria Furnace, now Johnstown, then taught the Ferguson school one term, the Clark school two terms, Lauffer school one term, Reaver Run school one term and Stony Spring school one term. Mr. Kemerer graduated from the Laird Institute, at Murrysville, Pennsvivania, when G. M. Spargrove was acting as principal. After abandoning the profession of teaching he turned his attention to farming on the I.C. Davis farm, located near Greensburg, remaining one year. He then located on the Saxman farm, near Delmont, in Salem township, where he remained one year. He then conducted the Manor farm in Franklin township for three vears, after which for six vears he operated his father’s farm in Franklin township. In 1888 he purchased his present farm from Lewis Geiger, and since then has been successfully engaged in trucking and flower raising. He also operates a stone quarry, the product of which is being used in the construction of the new bank at Export, and other buildings. On this farm stands to-day the old tool house for the old turnpike road known as the Philadelphia and Pittsburg pike. In 1877 he was elected auditor of Franklin township and served nine vears, and in 1890 was elected tax collector of the same township, re-elected in 1895, serving ten vears in that capacity, and faithfully and conscientiously performing the duties thereof. He is a member of Hills Emanuel Reformed Church, and his political affiliations are with the Democratic party. In 1877 Mr. Kemerer married Mary C. Stout, daughter of David and Katharine (Remaley) Stout, of Sardis, Pennsylvania, later of Franklin township, where their deaths occurred, and their remains are interred at Hills Emanuel Church cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Kemerer are the parents of the following named children: Nevin B., married Mary Watson, and they have one son Ora Kemerer. Lillie Pearl, wite of Edwin Lutz. Essie, resides at home.
