Facts and Events
From Otsego Farmer, March 19, 1943, p. 2 David Andrew Jackson The death of David Andrew Jackson of Cooperstown occurred Friday afternoon of last week from infirmities of advanced years. He was born May 12, 1854, in the town of Springfield, son of Leonard and Adeline (Stocking) Jackson. His childhood was spent in Maryland, where a severe illness of scarlet fever at the age of eight, left him a semi-invalid throughout life. Since the death of his parents, he has made his home with relatives, having been with his sister, Mrs. Sanford Ballard, here the last forty-eight years. Surviving beside the sister are four nephews, Ellra J., Isum, and Harry J. Ballard of this village, Cary Jackson, Ilion; two nieces, Mrs. Sarah Schultz, Herkimer; Mrs. Walter Gray, Toddsville; and several grand nieces and nephews, and cousins. The funeral was held at the Ingalls Funeral Home Monday afternoon, with the Rev. F. W. Connell, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be made at a later date in the cemetery at Maryland. 1855 New York State Census, Springfield (town), Otsego Co.
