David Jackson (82) was born in December 1798, probably in Virginia. He lived most of his life in Augusta County, Virginia. He is listed in the 1860 Census as a shoemaker by occupation. He married Mary Long (81) in Augusta County on 8 April 1824. They were married by the Rev Josiah Cole. Mary was born near Churchville, Augusta County, VA 7 Aug 1799, a daughter of William Long (101) and Mary Blair (102).

David and Mary together had two sons: William Andrew (35) and another whose name is not known. Mary died in Churchville, Augusta County, VA on 1 February 1879 and was buried there the next day. A clipping pasted in the back of her son William's bible reads:

Mary Jackson, wife of David Jackson, died Feb 1st, 1879. She was born in Virginia, near where she died, August 7th, 1799, aged 79 years, 5 months and 24 days. Having spent nearly four-score years she departed in peace. She leaves an aged companion and two sons, one of which is a minister of Christ in the Allegheny Conference. In the early part of her life her house was the home for the weary itinerant. Her later years were spent in waiting for the close of life and the dawn of eternity. A Christian pilgrim forty-seven years; but she has reached her home at last. A little while and her friends will follow. May they meet her there. --Geo. P. Hott

A note in William's bible in the margin next to 1 Corinthians XV, 20: But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep, says:

This verse was Bishop Glossbrenner's text at the funeral of my dear mother who died February 1st 1879 and buried Feb 2nd in Churcheville, Augusta County, Va aged 79 years, 5 months and 24 days.

David Jackson died in the Pastures District of Augusta County, Virginia on 27 July 1886.
