David Allen Hazlett was born at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA on February 9, 1968. He attended Lucas Elementary and Southeast Junior High School prior to graduating from Iowa City High in 1986. When he was full grown, Dave was 5' 9" tall with dark hair and blue eyes. Dave enjoyed riding his motor cycle and playing sports, including football and baseball. Despite being right-handed, he was a gifted first baseman. In his spare time, Dave collected baseball cards and enjoyed socializing with friends. After graduation from high school, Dave enrolled at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. He later transferred to the University of Dubuque where he earned a Certified Flight Instructor Instrument rated (CFII) certificate. He worked as an instructor for West Tennessee Aviation and the University of Tennessee at Martin after leaving Dubuque. Tragically, Dave was killed in a plane crash on November 9, 1994 at the age of 26. His ashes were scattered over the Union City airport. Dave was survived by his grandmother Evelyn Finn, both his parents, a brother, and a sister. |
