Pam,

I am sure that David Hatch b. 8 Aug 1709 in Scituate, Plymouth Co., MA, son of Thomas Hatch and Hannah Cudworth [Early VRs of Plymouth Co.,Scitute Births: "Hatch, David, [twin] s. Thomas and Hannah, Aug. 8, 1709."] is the David that married Jemima Norton as a second wife, with no issue from the marriage. The biggest clue is in the will of Jemima Hatch. I don't have the will, but prior correspondence from you included the following:

"Will of Jemima Hatch dated 9 Aug 1784 [Plymouth Co., MA Probate Book 29:539-540]. Jemima left her estate [lands in the Southerly part of Boston which she bought from John Hatch of Bridgewater, son of her late husband, David Hatch]... Niece Hannah James, executrix."

Note, LANDS BOUGHT FROM JOHN HATCH OF BRIDGEWATER, SON OF HER LATE HUSBAND, DAVID HATCH. Also, no Hatch heirs for Jemima were named.

David married (1) his 2nd cousin, Mary Turner, d/o Jonathan Turner and Marcy/Mercy Hatch, 25 Apr 1729 at Scituate. Children of David and Mary are: David, Mary, John (the John who sold land to his step-mother, Jemima), Mercy & Lydia. Kaye

I am trying to prove who was the grandfather of David Hatch Jr. who moved from Hallifax MA to Tamworth NH in the late 1700s. He is definately the son of David Hatch who died in 1767. This David is referred to in his will (written 1761)as Victualler of Boston as names his wife Jemima and children from a previous marriage -- eldest son David, son John, daughter Mary wife of Thomas Phillips and daughter Marcy. There are two Davids this could be. The one who married Elizabeth Chittenden and is the son of Israel and Elizabeth F. Hatch or the David who married Mary Turner and is the son of Thomas and Hannah Hatch. I know that Vol. 6 of the Mayflower Famiilies (Stephen Hopkins family) names this David as a son of David and Elizabeth Chittenden Hatch but I have not seen any proof of this.

David and Jemima were married 9 Feb 1754 in Bridgewater. He wrote his will in 1761. But according to Scituate Deaths Elizabeth w. David, did not died until Mar. 13, 1764, in 56th y. (C.R.1)
