David Penn Harris studied for the ministry at Simmons College in Abilene (now known as Hardin-Simmons University), but dropped out on account of finances and was working as a grocery clerk when he married Freda Groene. They moved to New Mexico and worked on a ranch for an uncle for a few years. Penn's brother name was Belvin. He was older that Penn and had one son named Benny. Belvin's wife and father died, I think, before they moved to Abilene. I think Benny was about grown before Belvin married the 2nd time and moved to New Mexico. Penn's mother died in Abilen about 1914. Penn's sister, Georgia, of course never married. I don't remember how long she lived. She helped Freda take care of Penn for a few weeks before he passed away.
