"David, the fourth son of John Eby, was born in 1813. For some reason he wrote his name Ebi. He was married to a Miss Shelhammer. They resided in Michigan and had a family of eight children, six sons and two daughters. Their names are Samuel, Nelson, Daniel, David, James, Ulysses, Rachel and Amanda. WHO ARE THE THIEVES -- Yesterday morning at an early hour, Joe BARBEE and the irrepressible MILLIKEN were out making enquiries of everybody on the street, sending off dispatches in every direction, and hunting up the police officers to get tidings of a missing horse and buggy which had during the night been stolen from BARBEE’s stable yard. Like knights of the sorrowful countenance they were prosecuting their enquiries when the veritable horse and buggy appeared on the street heading towards the Sheriff’s office. Mr. EBI, a respectable farmer living a few miles from town, was the driver. Mr. EBI reported that on Thursday night he was aroused by an unusual noise among the chickens and suspecting that someone was disturbing them, he dressed and walked out with his gun to prospect. Seeing 2 men, he ran after them giving them a close chase. He so closely pursued them that they dropped 2 sacks, one of which contained a chicken. Noticing a horse and buggy by the roadside he concluded to take possession, and put them in the barn for the night. He brought them to town yesterday to deliver to the Sheriff, but BARBEE claiming ownership, the property was restored to him.
