- Williamsport Gazette & Bulletin July 6, 1878 Page 1 column 6 listed under Jersey Shore, viewed at the James V. Brown Library:
Dr. David Dieffenbacher The well known dentist of the above name, who had practiced his profession for about twenty years in Jersey Shore, and who resided there for thirty years, expired on Wednesday, July 3d, aged about 71 years. He had been in feeble health for some months, having been afflicted with stomache troubles. Before adopting the profession of dentistry, Mr. Dieffenbacher had been engaged for many years as a tinner and photographer. In his last and favorite calling he made excellent progress, his natural mechanical genius proving of great advantage to him in that business. In early life he was identified with the Methodist Church, but subsequently entered the Presbyterian denomination in which he remained one of the prominent members till his death. He leaves a wife but no other family. The funeral services took place yesterday afternoon, being largely attended.
