James CARGILL died 1866 Nassagaweya, Halton, Ontario. His wife Isabella SHAW Cargill died 1871 in Nassagaweya. Two sons were in the area: James and David. David married Ann McHENRY. James married Isabella MATHEWS. David and Ann had a son, David CARGILL II who married Agnes EMERSON. I would like to find information about the Emerson parents.

David Cargill, after a lingering illness from consumption, passed away May 5, 1904, aged 79 years. He was a kind neighbor. The funeral was held at his home, Sunday May 8. The family have the sympathy of all. He was a veteran [of the American Civil War].

David answered the last call for volunteers in the U.S. Union Army which gave hime the privlege of acquiring a homestead in the United States. David and his family crossed into Michigan at Port Huron, took the train to Grand Haven, them by small steamship to Pentwater which, at that time was just a small sawmill town.
