D.W. Briggs came in the fall of 1818, from Washington county, New York, (he was a native of Massachusetts), and made himself a home upon lot thirty six, in section three. He married Alzina, eldest daughter of Ephraim F. Barker, who is still living. Briggs died in 1861. He had thirteen children, nine of whom are living as follows: George, Daniel and Jacob, in the west; Maria (Mrs. J. Woodward) in Hancock county; Sarah (Mrs. J. Haynes) in Greenwich; Bathena (Mrs. C. Platner) in Hancock county; Zoa (Mrs. M. Kahar) in Michigan; Mary (Mrs. A. Warner), in Richland county; and Caroline (Evans), in Greenwich.

Living in household: David W. Briggs, 59, & his wife, Alzina (Barker), 47. Children: Mary Briggs (16), David Briggs (14 & b. in Mich.), Bathana Briggs (12 & b. in Mich.), Ephraim Briggs (10), Zoa Briggs (6), Caroline Briggs (4), Ralph Potter (2), Charles Briggs (7). Because Ralph Potter & Charles Briggs are listed last, I wonder if they have different parents.

Key link for our David W. line was his entry found in the Bard. BTW, his birth in the Bard [family Bible] shown as 8 DEC 1790 correlates exactly with his gravestone age, so that lends a degree of accuracy to the Bard pages.
