5. David S. - b. Aug. 3, 1808 - d. July 10, 1873; married Rachel Zepp - b. Mar. 16, 1807 (T.S. = Feb. 16, 1808) - d. Feb. 28, 1850; then married Aug. 25, 1850 to Sarah A. Houptman - b. June 10, 1824 - d. Apr. 29, 1897. He lived in Bachman's Valley and was a member of the German Reformed congregation of Jerusalem Church there. He and his first wife are buried in the church cemetery; his second wife is buried about a mile west in the John Luther Miller Memorial Cemetery. David's middle initial of S. stood for Stonesifer - as it was often the custom for sons to take as their middle name the maiden name of the mother. David's mother was Christina Stonesifer and she had married John Peter Bankert.
