Was in 8th Air Force of Army Air Corps. Worked on B17s and B24s. Would fly aircraft to verify systems were operational. Was promoted to 2LTs in WWII due to having so many flight hours. Were to complete remaining of 20 missions. Was promoted to CPT eventually during the war. Made E9 at retirement, but was given CPT retirement due to having been at that rank for at least 90 days. Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross.
