Second, Dec. 16, 1681, Hannah Miller, and at this time lived in Rehoboth, Mass. He was received into the church in Dedham, May 20, 1645; [probably a misstatement prompted by the entry immediately prior to his baptism; i.e., the receipt of Anthony Fisher into the Dedham church 20d 5m 1645] died July 23, 1683."

  5. ↑ 5.0 5.1 5.2 There is clearly a conflict between the birth record and the baptism record. Given the chronological nature of the church records, and the assumption that, unlike births, baptisms are probably recorded right when they occur, it does appear the baptism was done in 1645. The birth records also appear in chronological order, but based on what happens in other towns, this rarely occurs, indicating the birth records may have been reordered and copied over. Therefore, it seems most likely the baptism date is correct, making the birth record a year too late.
  6. ↑ It is not clear where Brown Thurston got this date unless it was an ill-advised attempt to work around the issue discussed immediately above.
