He drowned off the Gulf Coast.

Daniel's obituary reads, "Funeral arrangements for Daniel J. Presuhn, former Fort Wayne resident who drowned Wednesday night near Port Allen, La., will be completed today by E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, New Haven. Surviving are the mother, Mrs. Minnie Presuhn, Hoagland; and several cousins. The body is to be brought to the E. Harper & Son Funeral Home." [Journal Gazette, 18 October 1959, pg. 2a]

Daniel is buried at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in New Haven, Indiana.
