Personal History

Daniel Sherman Perry,[2][3][4] son of James A. Perry and Annie Norman,[1][2] was born 8 October 1885,[1][3][4] in Short Creek township, Harrison co., Ohio.[1]

Marriage and Family

A marriage license was issued 31 August 1915, by the probate court of Harrison co., Ohio, to Daniel Sherman Perry and Leora Shields. They were married 8 September 1915, in Harrison co., by Rev. R. J. Shields of Brownsville, Pennsylvania.

On 12 September 1918, Daniel signed a card (as “Daniel Sherman Perry”) for the third registration of the WW I draft. Daniel, a Presbyterian minister, stated his nearest relative was his wife Leora S. Perry, and they were residing in Chalmers, White co., Indiana. The registrar's report describes him as medium height, medium build, dark brown eyes, black hair, and without physical disability.

On 27 April 1942, Daniel signed a card (as “Daniel S. Perry”) for the fourth registration of the WW II draft. Daniel gave the name of his wife and stated that he was self-employed, and they were residing in Rochester, Fulton co., Indiana. The registrar's report describes him as 5'6" height, 220 lbs. weight, brown eyes, gray hair, and light brown complexion.

Death and Probate

Daniel died 6 January 1954, at the home of his daughter in North Manchester, Wabash co., Indiana, and he was buried in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, in Rochester.[5]
