This couple is NOT Daniel Laughner (1820-1849)/Catherine Catron (1820-1896) also from Tennessee. (https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Family:Daniel_Laughner_and_Catherine_Catron_%281%29) Catherine Catron is clearly a widow in the 1850 Census.

I can find no other records for Daniel or Catherine (whose surname is problematic). But there is a clue in Henry Shields Lauchner (1830-1917) who is the only other Laughner living in Clay county, Ill. during this time period. Henry is from Greene county, Tenn. And his father is Daniel Laughner (1795-1871). I have postulated that this Daniel is also our Daniel's father. So in 1870 brothers Daniel and Henry are both living in Clay county, Illinois.

Henry is living with his father during 1850 but his brother isn't. He has no census record for that year even though 5 of his children were born in Tennessee.

The maternal grandfather of Alsie Tolliver was Daniel Lauchner, born in Tennessee, who came to Illinois in about 1850. He settled on an Illinois farm in Clay county and devoted the remainder of his life to farming pursuits, being known as one of the more solid and conservative men of his district.

[Alsie is Daniel's daughter Margaret's son.]
