John Daniel Klingenschmitt, widower, came to America on the ship "Robert & Alice", arriving September 11, 1738 (source: 18th Century Emigrants from the Northern Alsace to America, author Annette Kunselman Burgert, published by Picton Press, Camden, Maine, pg. 300). There were 320 passengers on that ship which was commandered by Walter Goodman. (From the passenger list I find the following: Daniel Klingenschmidt, Frantz Klingenschmidt, Peter Reitenauer, Balthaser Reydenauer, Hans Hen. Reitenauer, and Christian Cassell). These people all appear to have travelled together, settled in PA near each other, and have some connection to this family.
