Daniel Hullinger, son of Christian Hullinger was born in Lancaster County Pennsylvania March 12 1757, and while residing there volunteered in 1777 serving as private 7 months under Captain John Ashton, and was in the battle of Germantown. Some time after, he was called up by the same Captain and served 2 months. The army required the use of his father Christian's wagon and team and he went with them driving the team under Wagonmaster Daniel Barry for 8 months.

He was First Lieutenant under captain Fetter or Vedder and served 2 months at Lancaster Barracks guarding prisoners taken at Yorktown. Soon after the war he moved to Virginia, then to Ross county Ohio, thence to Champaign County Ohio. He was allowed pension on an application executed October 17, 1832 while resident of Madriver Twp, Champaign Co, Ohio.

His father was Captain Christian Hullinger aka Christian Hollinger (Hullinger) who served in the American Revolution. Christian was a Captain of the 6th Company of the 9th Battalion Commanded by Colonel John Huber from Warwick Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He came to America with his parents in 1736. Another site said he served in 8th Battalion Lancaster co Pennsylvania.

According to a SAR application Christian died and is buried in Shockeyville W Va (originally Virginia) no cemetery listed for Christian. Unable to locate this town. There is a Shockeysville, Va and W Va and a Schockeysville, Va. Shockeysville is in Frederick County, VA aka Shockeyville Other sources list his death as being in Sockeville, Berkley Co., Pennsylvania. Yet another unsourced tree has his death at Loyalsockville, Lycoming, Pennsylvania, yet others also unsourced as Lancaster Co Pa. Still searching for Christian's burial place. His last sourced location in 1785 was Pennsylvania, Tax and Exoneration, 1768-1801 about Christian Hollinger.

"A letter came from a Maude Hullinger from Springfield, Ohio. Enclosed was a record that tells of a Christian Hullinger, who was born in Lancaster County, Warwick Twp., Pennsylvania. He served in the Revolutionary War as Militia Captain from 1777 - 1779 in Colonel Peter Grubbs 8th Battalion. They were in camp in New Jersey, August, 1776, for the defense of Philadelphia. Under him were Privates Daniel Hullinger and Daniel Hullinger, Jr. In 1779, listed in the 9th Battalion, commanded by John Huber, is Captain Christian Hullinger, Clerk Daniel Hullinger, Drummer Daniel Hullinger, and Fifer Thomas Hullinger."

"The Daniel mentioned seems to be a son or grandson of Christian and was born March 12 1757, making him 19 in 1776. He died in 1839 and is buried in Rector Cemetery near Tremont, Ohio. He was a teamster in the Continental Army and was discharged as First Lieutenant. After the war he went to Shenandoah County, Virginia, where in 1783 he married Ann Shockey, who was born December 6, 1767. They moved to Champaign County, Ohio, about 1788 which was a densely forested country. Ann died August 20, 1836, and also is buried in Rector Cemetery."
