HAMMACK -- At his residence seven miles north of Salem, Sunday, August 28, 1887, Daniel Hammack, aged 74 years.
Deceased was born December 1, 1813, in Kentucky; was married in Indiana at the age of twenty-four to Miss Jane Frakes. In 1847 they removed to Iowa and located in Wayne County. In 1865 they came across the plains to Oregon and settled on South Prairie. He lieaves a widow and ten children living, five sons and five daughters, having lost one child several years ago. John, Fred, Sanford, Mrs. Gorsline and Miss Martha all reside in this county, the last named at home; Mrs. Moras at Forest Grove, Mrs. Davis at Highland, Clackamas county, Mrs. McKinnon in Polk county. The oldest son George, lives at Prineville and Grayson at Forest Grove. Mr. Hammack was an industrious, honest, sympathetic man, held in high esteem by all who knew him, and his loss will be deeply felt, not only in his immediate neighborhood, but among the entire circle of his acquaintances. His religious spirit and creed was broad, liberal and generous.
