    NICHOLAS ELLEN, OR ALLEN.
But little is known of this early resident of Milton. He appears as witness in case of the will of John Holman, before the General Court in 1080, with William Salsbury and Robert Redman. Thacher says: "April 9, 1684, 1 was sent for to visit Goodman Ellen, who they thought was dying." [sic this is a conflation of father Nicholas Ellen and son Nicholas Ellen]
Nicholas Ellen married the widow of Robert Pond, and may have lived in the Pond house, which was bought by Ezra Clapp, whose first wife was Abigail Pond, daughter of Robert; but his residence is supposed to have been in the east part of the town. His son Daniel also resided here.

In the probate of his half-brother Daniel Allen Inkeeper of Boston 1715-1717, Daniel Allen's children call him "uncle Silence Allen" and accuse him of writing Daniel Allen's will for him the night before he died on his death bed and deceptively reading back the will to hide the fact that he had written his eldest son Daniel Allen out of the will. His half-brother Daniel is said to be unable to read. The son Daniel Allen, mariner of Boston contested the will as did his sisters. Daniel Allen, mariner of Boston married Sarah Gibbins and then Sarah Coker of Newbury, shortly after the marriage to Sarah Coker is the following: Newbury - V1 Page:21: Alin (see also Allen), Daniel, s.
