Daniel and Mary Davenport were released by letter from Wolf Creek Baptist Church in August 1870. They moved to near Pine Knot, McCreary County, Kentucky and formed the Bethel Baptist Church, which is still there in 1999. Their daughter Elizabeth and her husband Jobe Perkins, were already living there when Daniel moved. The church was formed in the home of Jobe Perkins. Daniel's daughters Jane and Sarah, along with Sarah's husband Calvin Patrick, came by letter in 1887 from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

It may be significant that Daniel Davenport and his son Andrew Davenport moved their families out of the Wolf Creek Community at about the same time in 1870. There may have been some bad blood between them and the community, possibly involving ill feelings dating back to the Civil War.
