Dr. D.H. Courtney
A respected citizen of Glasco, a loving father, a true husband and a kind friend passed from this life to the home beyond, Friday, February 25th, 1898. Dr. Courtney had enjoyed a good practice in this vicinity until disease attacked him, when he visited his old home in West Virginia, at which place he rapidly gained strength and vigor and when he returned here in the autumn seemed to be himself again, but only for a short time, until sickness again returned. With the belief that a permanent change of climate would better his condition, he hastily sold his comfortable home here, wound up his business affairs and returned to W. Va. We have not heard from the family many times since their departure but understand that he never improved much and could only sit up occasionally until death finally overcame him. He was a firm believer in life insurance and his bereaved wife and dependent children will be provided for by a $3,000 policy in the Fraternal Aid Association and one of $3,000 in the Modern Woodmen of America. He was a K. of P. and Oddfellow, and was a charter member of the Sunflower Council Fraternal Aid.
