According to notes from Lucina Butts, wife of Edgar, Arth (as he was called) spread a rumor that Bertha was a mail order Bride.

Arth could play the Fiddle and many Family members he and a brother playing the fiddle at family events, well into the night. Was said to have been self taught and could make the fiddle "talk".
