In the name of God Amen: I Daniel Benthall of Sumner County andState of Tennessee being of sound and perfect mind and memoryblessed by God, do this day make and publish this my last willand testament in the following manner January 17th day 1797

First I _ unto my beloved wife all my land and all my negroes onesorrel horse by the name of Jack, one black mare, one gray mare,four beds and furniture and all my plantation _ and at the deathof my wife Susannah Benthall my will and desire is that all myestate shall be equally divided amongst all my children _Elizabeth Benthall, Charles Benthall, Francis Benthall, MaryBenthall with Susannah Benthall to then and their heirs forever.Also my desire is that my cattle sorrel and white horse shall besold for the use of my children.
