A Death notice for Dana B. Seaver was published in the New York Times, dated 20 December 1883. It reads:

“SUDDEN DEATH OF A SALESMAN New Haven, Dec. 19.—Dana B. Seaver, aged 50, traveling salesman for B.W. Allen & Co., wholesale liquor-dealers, No. 47 Broadway, New York, was found dead in his bed at the Grand Union Hotel this morning. He was down stairs and in good health a few moments before. Heart disease was the cause. He has a wife and daughter at Ryerson-street, Brooklyn, who were notified, and his body was inclosed in a metallic coffin and sent home in charge of friends this evening.”
