[edit] Obituary[Transcribed by RC from Spencerville newspaper clipping] DALE M. SAVIDGE, 76, died at 3:15 a.m. Sept. 18, 1997, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville. He was born May 24, 1991 in Lima to Leo and Bessie Moorman Savidge. On June 29, 1941, he married I. Kathleen Fry, who died April 6, 1987. On July 11, 1992, he married Anna Marie Coffman Miller, who survives. Mr. Savidge was a lifelong farmer. He worked at the Buckeye Pipeline Co., Lima, and had been a welder at the Rural Machine and Iron Works, Spencerville. He retired from the Allen County Fair Board in 1992 after 25 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Bowersock Brothers Post 6772 and a member of American Legion Harry J. Reynolds Post 191. He was a former member of the Spencerville Grange 2424. Survivors also include a daughter, Judy (Jim) Wilges of Angola, Ind.; two sisters, Virginia Lehman and LaDonna Brown, both of Spencerville; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael J. and David M. Savidge; and a brother, Billy Savidge. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. The Rev. John O. Goodwin will officiate. Burial will be in Spencerville Cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call rom 2 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Image Gallery
