Dale Emery Hasselbach Sr., 61, of Oak Harbor Road, Fremont, died Monday at Bethesda Care Center.

He was born in Fremont, the son of Donald and Irene (Emery) Hasselbach.

He served with the Army National Guard from 1961 through 1965 with a rank of E-5.

Dale was employed by Local Hall 55, Toledo, as an iron worker, retiring in 2001 after 26 years of service. He was also the owner of Seneca Precast Concrete.

Dale was a lifemember of the Eagles FOE 712 since 1970, where he was a past president and trustee. He was a charter and life member of AMVets Sandusky CO Post 67 since 1996, where he was past commander in 1997 and 1998. Dale was a Fremont VFW Men's Auxiliary member and a member of the American Legion since 1985. He was also founding president of the Fremont Browns Backers Club. He was a race car driver of late model cars at Fremont and Findlay speedways, where he was the 1970 Late Model Track Champion.

He was a 1961 graduate of Ross High School.

Dale is survived by children, John (Kathy) Yingling II, Troy, OH; Dale (Terri) Hasselbach Jr., Jamie (Erica) Hasselbach, Heather (Mike) Rice and Heidi Hasselbach, all of Fremont; sister, Marilyn Genzman, Fremont; brothers, Thomas and Gene Hasselbach, both of Green Springs, Rodney Hasselbach, Fremont; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and companion, Marty Carnicom, Fremont. He was preceded by his parents.

Visitation: 4 to 9 p.m. today at Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home and Crematory.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial: Green Springs Cemetery, Green Springs.

Memorials: Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
