Dale Hursh Felty Sr. 89 of Elyria passed away Friday September 11,2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain. He was born in McCullogh , Pennsylvania in 1926 since 1947. Dale served in the United States Navy during WWII aboard a heavy cruiser , the U.S.S. Wichita as seaman 1st Class, survived 9 major battles and received 9 battle stars. He was previously employed as a welder and supervisor at Fruehauf in Avon, Oh for 23 yrs.. He retired from Alloy engineering Berea, Oh. As a class "A" welder in 1985 on disability. Dale was a member of Christian Heritage Assembly of God Church Avon,Oh. Dale enjoyed traveling and building model airplanes. Survivors include his wife of 40 yrs. Mary (nee Gonda), sons Melvin (Janet) of Mansfield, Oh. , Dale Jr. (Kathy) of Hamilton, Oh. , Jeffrey (Penny) of Elyria , daughter Bonnie (Paul) Gnuschke of Macedonia, Oh. 9 grandchildren , 17 great-grandchildren , 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lois Jean (nee Loughner) in 1974 , Infant daughter Judith Ann , sisters Dorothy Cook and Beverly Houpt , Brother Daniel and Parents Viola and Lawrence Felty. Memorial Services will be held 1 PM Saturday September 26, 2015 at Christian Heritage Assembly of God Church 36405 Chester Rd. Avon, Oh. , where full military honors will be provided by VFW post # 1079. Rev. Jeffrey Phail officiating. Private Burial was held. In lieu of flowers family suggests that donations be made to the Church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Laubenthal- Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elyria. 440-322-4626
