Nicholas Lenz, 11 in 1857, married Cynthia Strubble in Illinois, where they farmed at Buffalo Prairie. Nicholas and Cynthia Strubble Lenz had four children: Mary died young when dress caught fire from stove.
    Cynthia died in 1935

Nicholas, Cynthia and family later went to Maryville, Missouri, bought land, farmed. Nicholas died of heat stroke about 1895. Cynthia went to visit friends in Colfax, left Elmer with relatives. John was in college, Elizabeth had already married. Cynthia heard about opening of Nez Perce reservation, sent for Elmer. Married George Tatko 8 March 1897 in Lewiston, later bought land from homesteaders who had filed but wanted to move on.

George and Cynthia were both active in settlement of the area, both charter members of the Presbyterian Church, he was member of IOOF. Cynthia bought homestead of a Mr. Hope, 80 acres on north of George’s homestead, and 80 acres directly east across the Westlake road. From this land she donated plats for the original town site of Chicago, Idaho.

Cynthia’s children Elizabeth [Vetter] and John soon followed to Ilo. Dr. John set up medical practice at Ilo by 1901.
In 1900, Cynthia sold 80-acre tract (S1/2 of SE1/4 Sec 32, T34, R1W) to Elmer; and 80 acres (N1/2 of SE1/4 Sec 32, T34, R1W) to Ada Lenz. This is now west half of Craigmont. East line is Division Street, south line is old road to Nez Perce.

George E. Tatko and Cynthia lived in old Ilo until 1915, when they retired and moved to Clarkston, Washington.
