Person:Creta Braught (1)

Cloyd Godfrey (Creta's father) will named 9 heirs (both of his marriages), including Cretal, who must be this Creta (also sometimes written as Crete, and perhaps same person as Creelia Braught). LDS records on this family show Creta Lozetta Braught, dau. of Cloyd Godfrey and Cynthia Arzelia (Chastain) Braught b.27 Aug. 1894 and married to Wm. McGarder, b. 1894. I think this should be Wm. McGorder. One record listed her as Layetor Creelia, born 21 Aug 1894. LDS Ancestral File v.4.10 (Nov 1992) lists her as Creta Lozetta Braught, b. 1894, father Cloyd Godfrey Braught. In Miami, OK Ottawa Co. Public Library Vol. I pg.8 article on Early School Census Record lists Braught, C.A. 28 with children Creelia b. 8-27-1894 and Byron b. 4-7-1899. Of course the parent is Cynthia A., aged 28 (must have been 1891), but Creelia birth year was in error (should have been 1897 -- likely a penmanship error). See LDS report (ancestry tree) of Creta Lozetta Braught, AFN HXTW-84. 1900 Indian Census does not list Creta, but lists her sister as Retis L., b. Aug. 1894, age 4/5, suggesting a problem with the recorder anyway (see Layetor Creelia notes). Details on her need further verification. See Miami News-Record Sept. 11, 1929 pg. 10 c.1 "Miss Creta Braught who has spent several weeks with her brother, Z. W. Braught and Mrs. Braught left Sunday for Tahlequah where she will attend school" She was about age 32 (then if birth data is correct) and should have been known as Mrs. McGarder, unless she was married after that. I have therefore guessed the latter and placed the marriage after 1929.
