GRAHAM — Coy Freeman Shoffner, 77, of 3038 Wagoner Lane, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Levirn Taylor Shoffner, who survives, and the son of the late Lawrence and Annie Ridge Shoffner. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Coy Shoffner grew up in the Alamance Battleground area and later made his home in Graham and Purlear. Coy was well known in the textile hosiery industry and was considered to be one of the best master mill mechanics, or "Fixers" for several hosiery companies. He formerly worked for Baker-Cammack, Annedeen, Pickett, and started up several small hosiery mills of his own in the area. He had the unique ability to be a "Jack of all Trades," "Fix it Man" and seemed to know something about everything. Dad, you were one of a kind! We will miss you until we see you again. Survivors other than his wife of the home include daughters, Judy Hanson of Durham and Janet Shoffner of Graham; sons, Michael Shoffner of Graham and Richard Shoffner of Haw River; a sister, Aurellia Sink of Thomasville; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Shoffner; and a sister, Louise Henderson. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2005 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Curtis Oakley. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park. |
