    EAST PEORIA - Corwin S. Clatt, 73, of East Peoria died at 10:40
    a.m. Monday. June 2, l997, at
    Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran
    Church in Washington. The Rev. Mark Boster will officiate.
    Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
    Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wright & Salmon
    Mortuary in Peoria.
    Memorial contributions may be to Faith Lutheran Church, of
    which he was a member.
    He was born Feb. 5, 1924, in West Des Moines, Iowa, to Cecil
    and Fern Bond Clatt. He Married Dorothy Dixon, Sept. 1, 1944 in
    Peoria.
    Surviving are his wife: one daughter and a son. Two brothers
    preceded him in death.
    Mr. Clatt was a teacher and a football and track coach at East
    Peoria Community High School, District 309, for 28 years,
    retiring in 1984.
    He was a World War II army medical corps veteran.
    A 1948 graduate of Notre Dame University, he received his
    master's degree from Bradley University.
    A fullback he played football for the university of Notre Dame
    in 1942 and in 1946-47. He went on to play for the Chicago
    Cardinals in the National Football League.
    He was inducted into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame in
    1986, and was named East Peoria Citizen of the Year in 1996.
    The football facility at the new EastSide Center sports complex
    will be named in his honor.
