C. W. SHOEMAKER DIES AT 87 YEARS
Services Friday at Mts. Runn Church
Corvallace W. Shoemaker, age 87 years, retired druggist and farmer, died this morning at six o'clock at the Rahbeck nursing home in Anderson where he had been a patient only one day. He had been in failing health the past year and seriously ill since May. He was taken by ambulance Tuesday from his home in Whitestown to the nursing home in Anderson.
Mr. Shoemaker was born in Boone county and spent his entire life here. He owned and operated a drug store Astor's in Whitestown several years and later purchased a farm three miles north of Whitestown and engaged in farming. He was a member of the Mts. Run Baptist Church and the Whitestown Masonic Lodge.
He was married about fifty years ago in Lebanon to Centrilla Laughner, who preceded him in death four years ago. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Rhonda Hines of Whitestown; a son by a former marriage, and three grandchildren, Dora C. Shoemaker of Brownsburg, Mrs. Arthur Gross of Anderson and Mrs. Evelyn Davis of Knightstown and nine grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the Mts. Run Baptist Church with Elder Ernest Essex officiating. The Masonic Lodge will give its ritualistic service.
Burial will be in Mts. Runn cemetery. The body was brought to the Bratton funeral home from Anderson this afternoon and will be removed to the residence in Whitestown where friends may call after twelve o'clock noon Thursday. (Lebanon Reporter - Wed., March 17, 1948, pg. 1,4)
