Cornelius was a merchant in the village of Port Tobacco on the Potomac River in Charles County, Maryland. It was a bustling port for shipping for the tobacco trade with England. Mary and Cornelius had six known children, their sixth born after Cornelius' death in 1705 at about 44 years of age.
