    KELLER, CONRAD

Before the Monroe County, Virginia, court, Conrad Keller testified that he enlisted in the Revolutionary Army in Shenandoah County, in the year 1776 or 1777, for three years, and that he served as a waiting man to General Muhlenberg. He was discharged by General Muhlenberg at the end of his enlistment period, was drafted into the Shenandoah County militia for two months in 1781 or 1782, marched to Winchester under Captain Downy, and was stationed for a time at Fort Frederick.

Like you, I too, am a descendant of Conrad Keller and have some information concerning the Conrad Keller you cite. His father was Rudolph Keller and his mother Juliannah (?) of Frederick, Maryland. Rudolph's will was probated in Frederick.

Conrad served in the Revolutionary War under Mulenberg and lived initially in Woodstock, Virginia, where he had a substantial plantation. He later moved to what is now Lowell, WV and lived out his days there. Thatis were he is buried.

    DR. BEN KELLER
CONRAD KELLAR, to whom will be assigned the number 1, was no doubt the founder of our Keller ancestry in the United States. He was born, probably in Germany, in 1750, and served in the War of the Revolution as mentioned in the preface. His first planta tion of which we have knowledge was in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Apparently he prospered there, for after starting his family there he sold out and bought two adjoining plantations on the Greenbrier at what is now Lowell, West Virginia, where he lived and died and is buried. Several of his children apparently were born in Monroe County, but I have been unable to get the date or place of birth of all of them.
The children of Conrad Keller as listed in his will are as follows, no attempt being made to list them in the order of their birth as only a few birth dates are available.
2AAbraham, b. 1787 probably in Shenandoah Co., Va.
    2BJohn
    2CPhillip
    2DHenry, b. Lowell, W. Va., March 9. 1821
